Turning the Tables on malware in bittorent software

Torrent Freak did some social goodness over the last couple of days using Google Adsense. The gist of the story is that there are three supposed (we say supposed because we don’t know for sure) bittorrent clients that have payloads of malware embedded in the client. Unsuspecting bittorrent users will then download the clients and turn over their systems to the people providing the software. They state:

Torrent101, Torrentq and Bitroll are three malware supported BitTorrent clients which are heavily advertised on BitTorrent sites. They try to lure naive users into downloading these clients wiith catchy phrases like “We use unique technology to increase the download speed of your torrents”. We decided to turn the tables around and advertised with malware warnings on their websites. Source: Torrent Freak

The image below is a priceless example of the campaign. Makes for some interesting reading, and using google adsense to notify customers that there are some really bad programs out there.
