Sun Joins in with JavaFX

We haven’t seen much on this technology yet other than the press release that Sun is coming up with its own Apollo or SilverLight system called JavaFX. This makes for an interesting process now that just about every platform is going to be represented now by the major interests in web technologies.

JavaFX is a platform, which will initially include a system for developing web-based mobile phone applications called JavaFX Mobile and and a language for creating interactive content called JavaFX Script. Sun also plans to deliver additional JavaFX products for the manufacturers of set top boxes, navigation devices and automobile dashboards. Source: IT Wire

The good part is that a lot of Ajax is very interesting both from the development and hackers viewpoint. Having something that can help developers work better with java and come up with more compelling and more secure applications. As it becomes available, it will be interesting to see how the interoperability between these systems will end up looking like.

Based on past behavior, a suit around java has not been Sun Microsystems strength, most of the decent Java IDE’s are built by someone else. So this one will be interesting to watch.
