Nick Baker talks about the Xbox 360

Ever really wondered why Xbox 360 Modders have had such a hard time of figuring out a way to get around all the inbuilt stuff to make the perfect open Xbox 360? Then you might want to check out this really good interview with Nick Baker, the brains behind the Xbox 360 Architecture.

What is the XBox 360, exactly? How do you go about designing and building a game console that meets the high standards of today’s gamers and handles the computational pressures of today’s highly realistic games (think real time physics computation, incredibly rich graphics, etc)? Did you know the XBox 360 team saw into the multi-core future before most anybody else? Source: Channel9.msdn.com

The gist of the interview is how they developed the Xbox 360 to manage all the physics, real time rendering, and photorealistic computer code that the thing needs to handle to deliver a great user experience.

In watching the video interview, it also shows that he loves the toy he helped build, there is nothing better than being passionate about the things you make. Probably one of the best interviews to come out of Channel 9 in a while. It is not the average dull drone production; it actually has some good stuff.

Of course, if you are a person dedicated to modding your Xbox, there are some interesting bits in the interview that might help your cause. Although you always run the risk of being shut down, your box removed from the live network, and having a very expensive doorstop to boot.
