One way to find that cool startup job in Seattle
If you are interested in finding those cool underground, non-published jobs in the Seattle area, then you do not have to go anywhere else other than Facebook. It is hard to find those startup jobs in many ways, but Facebook has a group in face book called Seattle Tech Startups, and if you want to know what is happening in the startup scene in Seattle, this is the place to check out.
While not every opportunity is published in Facebook, the three or four jobs a week that run through the system shows that it is a viable and live way of finding those really hard to find jobs.
The better part is that occasionally a job opening will come through the system looking for people to fill critical cool startup positions that normally are not going to be advertised someplace else. If you want to see these kinds of jobs, then this is the Facebook group to join. Another good group to join is the Seattle Mind Camp group, as you can get a feel for what additional things are happening in the Seattle area.
It is going to be groups in Facebook and in some respects linked in that are going to be the place to go to find underground cool jobs that are not going to be posted in any of the major job boards. That is what makes this such a cool valuable resource for people who are interested in finding out what is happening in the local startup community. While there are lots of ways to find jobs, the underground job system in Seattle is usually more entertaining, and startups often publish jobs that are not going to be found in the major job boards like monster.
The jobs being proposed across the group are not bad either like the example below.
This PopShops.com position is not just another job. The sky’s the limit here and the developer who is offered this position can chart their own career path.

The underground job economy is alive and well in Seattle, and given the number of startups in the city, and the number of people that they need, this is a good way of finding hard to find, hard to place positions. The job market here is robust even if you are not looking for a startup; it is well worth checking out the positions available.
