Roll your own Social Network with Ning
Ning is getting cooler, and we are not surprised by that at all. The idea of Ning is to roll your own social network around things that you find cool. Adding in some new fancy Facebook work, this means that your own social network can now include all your Facebook friends without a lot of pain.
This is a good thing, adds value to Ning and to Facebook in the longer run. It would be one of those “just makes sense” kinds of jobs, join Facebook to hook up with friends, family, and everyone else in between, and then share your social network with them around the things you like to do.

The interactivity of the groups makes it easier to share multiple interests within one “sandbox” rather than a long complicated friends list like MySpace. While we love MySpace, sometimes it can be difficult to move around in, and the friends list once you have hit a couple hundred of them becomes a lot of noise to manage. Using Ning, and the ability to sandbox various interests, this makes oh so much more sense, and a lot more fun to share diverse interests. Like punk rock music, Dr. Who, Lexx, and classic B Movies from the 1950’s and 1960’s. each one can be its own sandbox shared amongst a group of people.
