The recent brew ha-ha over Ann Coulters verbal assault on presidential hopeful John Edwards and his deceased son, die at the hands of terrorist rant that she offered on Chris Matthews TV show shows one of the biggest reasons that bloggers will win the media battle.

We at least are self-correcting

The dust up between Kathy Sierra et al ended up that at least some form of peace was made and apologies all the way around, and a self correcting process in terms of what bloggers will and will not do. There will of course always be exceptions to that general rule, but in general and as a group, we are all pretty much so well behaved.

Even Valley Wag with its clear bias is known for exactly that, it is valley wag’s clear bias and its need for attention. However, even Valley Wag has never wished that someone would die in a fire, or at the hands of terrorists.

Ann Coulter though is in another format all together, and shows the absolute desperation of big media, as they try to gain audience share in a world and time when people are more interested in the facts than the hateful opinion of a talking head. She is the one you pull out of the back stage trunk of props when you are desperate, lonely, and do not want to be canceled because the bloggers and other new media are kicking everyone’s butt for audience share and mind share.

Bloggers may not get it right all the time, and some bloggers are just as evil as Ann Coulter, do not get me wrong, there is always at least one weirdo in the bunch. In the blogging world though, they are usually ignored after a bit because people figure it out after a while. TV and Old Media however have not figured this out yet, and people like Ann Coulter continue to have an audience, and continue to spread their hate across the airwaves.

Forget anything like “in-depth reporting” or “journalistic integrity” or all the other things that old media spews about bloggers and new media. They really need to clean their own house first, until Old Media can approach the blogging world with their own hands clean, don’t assault bloggers, or assail bloggers for their biased approach. Ann Coulter on TV assailing people right and left, and wishing that they would die is not exactly the epitome of journalistic integrity.

Get real TV; this is one of the reasons that you are losing and losing badly to bloggers, youtube, and movies.

If we don’t want to see it, we won’t watch it, if old media cannot figure that one out, then bloggers will continue to rule. Ann Coulter is not Old Media’s road to fame and riches.

Think of Chris Mathews and Ann Coulter as inextricably linked. And don’t call it “Hardball.” Hardball is played hard to win, but has rules and style. Call it “Animal House” or “Garbage Dump.” At least, viewers would know what they are getting. Source: Opednews.com
