Product review Jimdo
Most people do not code, HTML is not just a foreign language, it is one of those techy geeky things that just ticks the majority of non technical folk off. Making pages easy for people is one of the reasons that MySpace and Facebook are doing as well as they are doing. You get to do many things, without having to know a lot of how the backend or code sets work.
Jimdo extends that framework into almost an old fashioned “Homestead.com” kind of feel, but unlike earlier DIY web sites, this one requires nothing on the part of the end users. It comes in two flavors, free and paid, the paid allows you to have your own domain.
Like many sites like this it has its own backgrounds, navigation support systems, and really is just plug and go. A lot like a Drupal, Joomla, or Wordpress type system, all you have to do is write text, and upload it making some decisions along the way. It is stupid simple, which means that it will probably really take off.
With coverage from groups like Techcrunch, webware and others, as well as the general bloggers and other techy folks thinking it is great, this is one of those systems that is very democratic. It does not matter what your level of skill is, if you want to build your own web site with Jimdo, then it is a piece of cake. No pain, no hassle, and that is really what is going to make it so much easier for people to have their own web presence in the future. All the person has to worry about is content.
It has been a long time since we have seen anything this easy to use, and this much fun to play around with. It is practical and strait forward, again, stupid simple. Probably one of the best products that we have seen in this space. They will let you incorporate your own design, work with Facebook, as well as provide password protection for segments of the web site you are designing, which makes it much easier to segregate duties within Jimdo.
We highly recommend checking this out if you want your own web space that is very easy to put together, and looks good at the end of the decision cycle. You can get to Jimdo here.
