Helium Market Place and PayPerPost

With all the people who love to hate payperpost, and the launch of the new helium market place, we wonder if helium market place will be the next big thing to hate. Lets face it when you dive under the covers of market place, there is really little to no difference between them and payperpost.

Bloggers create an article and hope that it is good enough to get the nod (PPP will refuse a post and not pay on it, Helium lets the publisher do the same thing) and get the money. Blogging for dollars is not a new thing, and technically, there is little difference between the two systems. Bloggers still blog and bloggers still are paid for saying something about someone else and are being compensated for it.

Payperpost requires disclosure, helium has not gotten to that point yet, at least we did not see a requirement for disclosure (does not mean that it is not there).

We have to wonder if Helium will become the new bad boy of paid blogging or shilling for dollars.

Other folks covering the story are Techcrunch, loose wire blog, and SeoBook, all of which have some interesting things to say about the concept. Moreover, the reasons why not to do this are already on the pavement.
