Microsoft Courts the BBC
Xbox 360 Boffins might just get BBC programming, what would be cool is if we can get BBC programming before it is available anywhere else in the USA, like the IT Crowd and Dr. Who come to mind immediately, but there is a lot of other good BBC programming to go along with that. But unfortunately that is not going to happen, this would only be for folks in the UK.
While we see problems, maybe this would work out, and it would be a coup to add more content to their already download on demand system that they have for the Xbox 360. Again though, if they would or could work out an international distribution deal, that would be way more cool.
Microsoft was attracted to the BBC’s library of content and to high-definition programmes such as the award-winning series Planet Earth, Honey said. “We are working diligently on multiple fronts to make it happen,” he said. “The BBC is a great content provider.” Source: Times Online
While they would compete with BBC America, Sci-Fi Channel, there is also a lot of older content like the classic Dr. Who, black adder, vicar of dibbley, and others that would make boffo downloads, that are available in the USA and not carried on channels currently.
So we hope that they get more content, might give us a reason to bring the Xbox 360 out of the spare bedroom, and back into the living room.

IT Crowd is on Channel 4 not BBC
