Ahh did not make it on TV huh?
Well ABC decides that it is just not feasible to keep Amanda Congdon on ABC News anymore. She was one of the stars of RocketBoom a Video Blog going back to say 2004 (read the Wikipedia entry here).
Techcrunch reports the media bistro blurb that:
“It’s been a great year with Amanda — a great experiment for both of us. We thank her for her many contributions and know that she’s about to embark on new endeavors and expect there will be times in the future that we can again work together.”
Techcrunch though does bring up a good point, while one failure to move from internet stardom does not mean it can not happen. But how different are the work environments, personalities, people, culture, leadership and management between the two.
The internet is known for its fast and loose people doing what they want to do or have to do to get something done. Regular media is more formal, they have had many years to perfect a process, and those cultural values are going to apply. Why we will not be all that surprised to see Amanda start up her own VLog, and get it jump started based on her internet fame.
Some of us did not even know she worked for ABC.
ABC needs better marketing people.
