Hackers Saboteurs and DDOS

This is not about some regular Joe company out there on the internet, no these are allegations made by The Pirate Bay in their blog about the conduct of Sony, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Universal, EMI, UBIsoft, and Activision in the never ending desire to have the pirate bay shut down.

Thanks to the email-leakage from MediaDefender-Defenders we now have proof of the things we’ve been suspecting for a long time; the big record and movie labels are paying professional hackers, saboteurs and ddosers to destroy our trackers. Source: The Pirate Bay Blog

Everyone knew that the media defender e-mails would prove to be something of an embarrassment for Media Defender, and we also think that they are pretty much so over with as a company. What is interesting though is if the allegations are true, and as The Pirate Bay indicated, reported them to the police for engaging in hacking activity, there is going to be even more trouble for media defender.

If they have engaged in tactics that are illegal just about everywhere, they quite legally will be entitled to damages. Which will be a further blow to the Anti-P2P companies, with a well deserved expectation that before they sign a bunch of contracts with other companies to find stuff, those other companies are going to want to make sure that the company is ethically sound.

The Pirate Bay, even though they are both reviled and loved, if they can prove that there was substantial participation from the media companies in hacking activity, they stand to make money for real and incurred damages. That will be one hard check for the media companies to write.
