Getting a bit more than you bargained for from Facebook this week, a class action lawsuit has been issued for Facebook sending unsolicited text messages to people’s cell phones, and those messages are all about porn.
Earlier this week, an Indiana mommy named Lindsey Abrams filed a federal class action suit against the Microsoft-propped social networking site. She’s claiming that it sends thousands of unauthorized text messages to innocent bystanders across the country – and that many of these messages contain “adult content”. Source: The Register UK
The class action lawsuit papers can be found here, and an amusing channel 9 quip on the comment that Facebook is Microsoft propped can be found here.
In the mean time, this whole class action issue is starting to look like the patent system, abused, misused, and out of control. It is a lot like patent trolling, and trying to copyright HTML pages.
In a Nanny State, who is going to join in on this one? Facebook never bothered my cell phone, nor caused me any grief, but I have an account on face book, you know how this goes, you only give up the information that you are going to give up.
More amazing stuff we are sure is going to come of this one.
