Googles Open Social the Video
In case you are interested in the New Google Social API and system, Robert Scoble has published a video from Youtube on it, while API data is fairly scarce at this point, more information will be coming out of Google as they work through how to get it out to folks.
In going through the Seattle tech startups list there are a lot of very good questions, and a lot of people looking for API information to see how they can make their startup work become part of the Google social process.
The best information that we could find on the open social API itself is right here and right from Google itself. It also has the video posted.
There is even a demo application, vote on your favorite Jimmy Hendrix song, (which screams seattle folks), Google States:
he ultimate goal is for any social website to be able to implement the APIs and host 3rd party social applications. There are many websites implementing OpenSocial, including Engage.com, Friendster, hi5, Hyves, imeem, LinkedIn, MySpace, Ning, Oracle, orkut, Plaxo, Salesforce.com, Six Apart, Tianji, Viadeo, and XING. If anyone wants us to review their application that they build on the Google Open Social API, we would be happy to do that, with over 200 startups in the Seattle area, people are looking at this, and if you are building out a social network, becoming part of the Google biosphere here is one of those things that is going to make sense.
All we need now is a contest to make it complete, build your best open social application, and see what happens.
