Crunchies for Startups

Something we are glad to see is a combination of powerful bloggers, especially when they use their influence and audience to highlight really good startups. This morning GigaOM shows that they have the right stuff, and announces that they in conjunction with other A List blogs will start featuring and reviewing hot startups.

When it comes to the world of technology, the start-ups are the real stars. In order to recognize the start-ups and their achievements, we are teaming up with TechCrunch, ReadWriteWeb and VentureBeat to collaborate on the Crunchies. They are like the Grammies and the Webbys with a People’s Choice flavor, only for start-ups! Source: GigaOM

With over 200 startups in the Seattle area, we really hope that some of the boys here in town will get to have their moment in the sunlight. There are some awesome things going on here, and well worth taking a look if folks can poke their head outside the valley. There are other isolated pockets of innovation like Boston, Texas and others that also deserve to have their stuff taken a look at. And no we are not talking about the copycat stuff, we are talking about the new shiny good stuff that people are building in their basements on a bootstrap budget that deserve to be looked at.

Some on this list have already been bought out, while others are still building good stuff based on both Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 concepts. Well worth checking out. And it is great that there is going to be a show for the best and brightest. We know who we are voting for, make sure you company is on the list. But then we also know that with this kind of an announcement that there are going to be thousands of hopefuls who will enter, few will win.
