What happened to PickyPirate
The web site is DOA, down, not reachable, and everyone is wondering what happened to PickyPirate over the weekend. It has been dead now for about three days; and no one knows what the real answer is.
Picky Pirate is indeed down, and so far, I can’t find any explanation. Lots of people are indeed posting reports that the site has gone into a black hole, but I haven’t yet found any official notice. This is a bit unprofessional, if you ask me. If you’re going to call it quits, why not take a moment to post a note for your users? Source: Free Music
The comments in the lifehacker and torrentfreak articles both point out that there is a name server issue, meaning they are really down. Once DNS is dead (like TV-Links) there is really nothing left to go on, and not a breath of what actually happened.
If you are into conspiracy theories then you can take your pick of random speculation such as metacritic told them to shut down, to abusive stalking and behavior from record company of choice. Either way you look at it, PickyPirate flamed out in record time, given less than a month of operation; it flashed bright and burned out young.
If anyone knows what happened to the web site, and why it was yanked at the DNS/ISP level, drop us a note.
If you want, something else to look at that was similar here is a mashup of IMBD and the pirate bay as well as one here at kronocide. Both are similar to what PickyPirate was offering, but without the critics input.
