Site Review Others On Line
Interesting Seattle startup others on line is one more way to set up sociability index about you and your blog based on tags. The obligatory tool bar and web widget is also included in a way to generate more “buzz hence more traffic” about the web site.
The Others Online patent-pending service introduces the concept of “personal tagclouds”, which we use to contextually and behaviorally match users with each other on every page view. So if you like Stephen King and racquetball, and are reading reviews of the Xbox 360, our service will show you everyone else (on any other Web site) who’s also interested in Xbox 360, Stephen King, racquetball and any other shared interests. These aren’t just people who you’re already friends with, but rather a warm introduction to any person who’s relevant to your online experience. Source: Others On Line
The at least somewhat unique thing here are tag clouds, based on blogging content, or what you say your tags are. Based on that information it gives you a number of “connections” or folks who have used similar tags. They will allow adult content blogs which is unique (normally those are an anathema to blog indexes due to various fun laws about age, type of data, etc).
Overall the experience was a bit pokey, but otherwise ok, no idea yet what it will do for traffic or anything else for a blog. But as a startup still in preview mode, it was at least easy to put the profile together, get the widget (we didn’t do the toolbar), and incorporate it into our Wordpress blog.
Simple, easy to use and setup, no major hassles incorporating the widget, uploading a picture, or other profile setup routines. Did get some proxy errors when trying to upload a picture, but otherwise fairly stable. It will be interesting to see what it will do for traffic.
