Technorati Refreshes Web Site
Technorati’s new site design is up and running right now, the biggest change is to the home page, as a default-landing page. It looks like it might work for being more news and blog oriented than the previous design. In all hunting down your stuff will be harder, but getting into the meme of things happening within the blogosphere will be much easier. On first blush it looks like it is a lot more useful than it was previously.
It should be noted though that the only thing we used it for previously was to check out our “authority” rather than anything else. This is where the whole idea of usability comes in, this change for us is a lot more usable and meaningful.

From the main page the internal page of blogs you own or follow is also much easier to track than it was previously. Gone is the little box on the right, you get a much easier view into not just authority, but those that have favorited the blog as well.

It is also much easier to bring up your favorites to go along with the other site redesign and changes.

In all the new site design is cool, much easier to use, much easier to find your information. The question will be is will they start holding onto more than 6 months worth of data, and how well the public is going to go along with the changes.

[…] an interesting day, we are watching Mixx Take off, which is cool, it is a nice site, we are seeing Technorati change over their formatting, Digg has new icons, and it seems like it is general update day across […]
Wouldn’t you agree that it still seems like a site/company in search of a mission?
John, in some respects, as well as the reset back to the old home page for people this morning was pretty disconcerting, hopefully that was not a trial balloon to see how people would react to it. You just never know what folks are really thinking at times. In the longer run, technorati has to figure out what they want and who they are. It seemed all so clear so long ago.
