Potentially there is another web 2.0 flame out, but this time with plenty of fun drama. Sam Sethi decides to close the door on a project that could not get funds, no matter what they tried. The only problem is that there is no proof, no statement, no data, but this is too good a rumor to pass up.
Beyond the anger and angst about the whole issue of non-payment, if Blognation has hit the dead pool, it will be interesting to see how the whole issue solves itself if Blognation is dead.
Mobile Jones reports
Sam Sethi has thrown in the towel. There’s no place to take Blognation given the reality of zero funding and mounting debt. No bills were paid and the train wreck has run over Sethi. He announced today that he will not continue and steps down from Blognation. Source: Mobile Jones
Again there is no other confirmation of the shut down, the Blognation URL still works, there is still data at Blognation, so this might be a total crock, but then it might be the truth. Only additional confirmation and information from Sam Sethi will be able to answer the question, is Blognation deadpool, or did they get funding?

Or: none of both?
Robin, no idea, still too much fun to pass up, but never know, there could be a lot of hidden agenda here, and that is what makes it interesting, a single blog post picked up on techmeme, with nothing to support it. After last week’s very public row though, it does make it all the more interesting in the longer run. Rarely do we get to see a public meltdown, it is interesting to watch the whole thing. Probably the most publicity that blognation has gotten lately.
I bet you did not click the link behind my name
For the record: I’m not claiming anything publicly, it’s just a little weird seeing stuff like this fly around the web without any factual evidence.
you would be wrong on that one, I know you are from blognation.
grin.
I bet it is weird seeing things like this fly around the internet, this is the interesting thing about blogging, one that has deep social and political significance, when a rumor becomes true because it is on techmeme, because one person blogged about it (mobile jones) and it gets mentioned at leweb3, makes for some interesting ability to spread propiganda, and other negative connotation words. The more interesting part is, what if this is true?
Yes, what if?
Blognation is not in the deadpool, and lots of people at Le Web came up to me and expressed their hope that it wouldn’t be anytime soon. Some people are on a quest to get Sam Sethi, which says a whole lot about her (and I guess, Sam too) but not about blognation.
Since we are basically chatting, what or why would people be so out to “get sam sethi”? beyond the money issue, which is an issue regardless of position, if there is a signed contract, people need to be paid, it almost sounds like there is a scorched earth policy when it comes to relationships with Sam.
it is interesting reading, but like bad family drama or the jerry springer show, with what is happening on line and most likely escalated in private, it is interesting that while there are public disputes, most of them will be ignored, except for those who watch the jerry springer show.
You have to admit (ok you don’t have to, but it sounds good) that there is a lot of high drama going on here, and it is damaging to those engaging in drama in public. My 2 cents for what it is worth.
And what do your comments here say about you, Robin? Blognation is as I reported, and you knew it when leaving comments here. Now the blogosphere knows it. I guess Sam isn’t the only one who has difficulty with reality.
As for why people would be out to get Sethi…. He chose to lie to people knowing that they were making decisions that put them in financial danger. With no conscience or concern, Sethi encouraged them to spend money on travel or relocation knowing he did not have the means to deliver the promised reimbursement. This isn’t about Jerry Springer style antics. This about real people with children and lives that were stressed and strained by a pathological liar. In addition, he chose to lie to a Guardian reporter about me and Oliver. He is a liar. And the last straw was his misrepresenting Marc Orchant when Marc was in no position to reply.
Sam has escaped previously known but not publicized integrity failings. Now that’s not a problem.
Debi, read my comments again. Tell me if I lied. I didn’t, I never do. Tell me what those comments said about me other than I’m trying to avoid that everyone start throwing things around without facts to back it up. Didn’t confirm or deny anything, deliberately.
Did Sam step down? yes.
Is Blognation dead? not yet.
Those are the facts.
And if you want all this to be public, explain everyone why you’re so keen on posting about Sam all the time? I’m genuinely curious: how does this help you or anyone in any way? Do you feel more complete by doing it? Is it for the traffic, the attention? Are you just angry and is that the way you deal with that feeling?
