How to copy pictures from Flickr to Smugmug
Earlier we advocated that if you are a professional photographer, you need to dump Flickr in favor of Smugmug or Getty Images or something else other than a free photo sharing site. The problem comes in when you have thousands of photographs that need to be moved. The process can be time consuming, annoying, and otherwise generally unhappy.
Now comes the good part, if you use firefox there is a plugin called SmugglR made by David Perry, meaning your pain of moving pictures just got tons easier. To top it off, SmugMug is offering a 50% price reduction for Flickr refugee’s that is also worth checking out, the key word on sign up to get the discount, flickr.
However, this is one “wizard” that really is a Merlin. I let SmuggLr do its magic and, over the course of a couple hours, it migrated 1,510 of my photos in 48 galleries from Flickr to SmugMug. And it kept all my galleries together, along with my captions and exif data. Brilliant! Source: Joe Flood
With that kind of user experience, it might be worth while to download the plug in and see what can happen.
If you are worried about your pictures, this is just one way to go of many, and admitted up front in the name of full disclosure, we are smugmug users, and like them quite a bit. Otherwise, we would not be using them.
