Very cool video here (unfortunately it is not set up to share) about a car rental company in Germany that wanted to stand out in a crowd, and started using ASCII art as a way to stand out on a generic Google page. We now expect the herd mentality to start flooding Google ads with ASCII art, but for now, the winners definitely go to the SIXT ASCII-GTI ad.

The comments on banner blog are indicating that Google is rejecting ads like this for repetitive punctuation, but some might slip though. Depends on if Google officially adopts this as a way to stand out in a crowded market place, and while it worked for one, the first one, the follow on copy cats might have a harder time in the future with this one.
