It is delete your MySpace profile day

It is January 30th, and it is international delete your MySpace profile day. Needless to say, we have no idea how many people deleted their account (if you deleted yours, let us know why by leaving a comment on this entry) or what the over all influence on MySpace traffic/people will be. But with all the other issues that MySpace is having from a sexual offender Disneyland (depending on who you talk to) to the massive ripping of private picture gallery that can be found on bittorrent, this is just one more issue that MySpace needs to deal with.

So if you’ve deleted your Myspace page today, tell us about your experience in the comments section. Several people have emailed me over the last few days to tell me that they tried to delete their profiles only for the confirmation email never to be sent. If this happens to you, it’s a serious issue that Myspace needs to address. Please let us know about it. Source: Blogasim

Shiny Shiny and Techdigest remind us that today is indeed the day to delete your myspace account. It will be very interesting to see how many people really do this.

For some reason we don’t think that many will, this is more of a rant than a real reason to abandon MySpace. Beyond friend spam for adult friend finders and fling.com, MySpace still has some compelling reasons to be there for people.

We think that Facebook is a bigger threat to myspace than “delete your MySpace account” day is.
