That cell phone might give you Salivary Gland Cancer

A new survey being reported by the BBC states that heavy cell phone use might lead to cancer of the Salivary Gland. The report showed up in the American Journal of epidemiology. This just makes a better case for that Bluetooth headset that you have been wanting to buy.

“but honey, you don’t want me to get cancer of the Salivary Gland do you”? Sounds like a bizarre argument, but then you can point to the venerable BBC and the American Journal of Epidemiology to support the argument.

Researchers looked at 500 Israelis who had developed the condition and compared their mobile phone usage with 1,300 healthy controls. Those who had used the phone against one side of the head for several hours a day were 50% more likely to have developed a salivary gland tumour. Source: BBC

Unusual as this cancer is fairly rare, and has not been widely studied. The only thing we are thinking here is an inability to drool, which in some cases might be good. But then on other cases, since this helps you choke down food could be generally bad. But if you are interested in reading about the “wonders of saliva by Rose Metsel” then click here.

Interesting, wondering how many people are going to buy the argument now that the brain cancer link to cell phones has been pretty much so held up by inconclusive testing and findings.
