25 percent of all blogs are spam

From the “duh!” department comes the idea that 25% of all word press blogs are empowering spam. For anyone that owns a wordpress MU (Multi-user) installation, the answer is, just a 1/4 or a 1/3? Hey I delete a number of splogs every day over at chatterCube a project we are sponsoring. Add to that the MU hack for automating splog generation, and you have it, an uncontrolled installation unless you fix the hack.

You might not want to fix the hack, as hate to say this folks, but having wordpress MU in full hackable mode does wonders to your technorati rank, drives traffic, face it, if you are running WPMU, sploggers are going to be your best friends as they will drive interesting traffic. Just don’t use Google ads, use something that does not mind adult content.

There is a lot of humor here, but not like this is news, it is interesting, but nothing to spend the day getting spun up over. Splogs are a fact of life, they already annoy people, the good, the bad, and the downright ugly here are represented in what people are throwing over the wall.

Spam has been off the wall this month, splogs are also off the wall in terms of numbers. If 30% of blogs are splogs, then we are in for some serious trouble. There is no way short of people deleting splogs as soon as they happen, or fixing the MU hack, and other hacks that let splogs run wild.

Come one system administrators, where are you?
