Some of the Best Reasons to be Blogging
In one of the best articles we have read on why bloggers blog, and the expectations bloggers should walk in the door with, the New York Times leads off with some advice from A-List bloggers. While few if any blogs attract a good consistent following, there are things to know about here before you kick off your magnum opus blog, thinking you are going to get rich overnight.
Realistically, getting rich over night is just not going to happen, even startups with truly fantastic ideas and software to back up those ideas have a hard time gaining an audience.
Information Overload, or just the approach, it just does not matter, you should be blogging because it is something you want to do, have some fun with, and otherwise makes your life more engaging and interesting.
You will see a lot of bad advice out there, you will see a lot of people holding up 100,000 dollar adsense checks, what you don’t see is the back end story of just how they did that. And just how unique and rare that kind of situation is. If you look at the stories now, you will find that the money they made, was transient, and just didn’t last.
Plug yourself. That’s what all the name-brand bloggers do. It’s not bad form to send a short note to a prominent blogger drawing his or her attention to a really good blog you wrote. Some bloggers place links to their sites in comments they write on more established blogs. (And some bloggers are on to the trick and refuse to allow it.) Source: NYT
Lets face it we all have an ego, blogging is one way to promote it. This is one article you should be reading, printing, and hanging over your computer monitor.
In the mean time, have a lot of fun blogging, eventually people will show up. Maybe.
