Site Review Zivity
Earlier we wrote about Zivity, a brand new model site, and we got a beta invitation and took a look around the web site. We have talked a lot about photography, Smugmug is the defacto standard for running a professional photographic web site, and everyone knows the issues with flickr at this point.
Zivity is going to give model mayhem a run for its money.
It is very hard to work out at times just how difficult it can be to break into the modeling industry, as both a photographer and a model. There is so much pressure, and so many excellent people in this that the industry has huge barriers to entry, it is not for everyone, but there are some excellent amateurs that need as many ways to showcase their work as possible.
This is where Zivity comes in, and where zivity has a real opportunity to bring together the model and photographer communities to help boost careers. There are not many very good model sites, many of them look and feel like they are an after thought on what the industry should look like. The good part, Zivity does not feel or look like everyone else.

Starting off you get to view all the top models, those that have been voted up by the community, which puts a nice web 2.0 spin on it. You can also leave comments on the pictures, so if it used for its real purpose rather than the comment “drool” you have a real opportunity to provide feedback to the photographer and to the model. Why you liked it, why you hated it, what photographic tips and tricks might work better. This is a chance to guide amateurs into professional photographers.

You can take a look at the picture above and see that some shading would have worked well here, the model looks washed out in the direct sunlight. Good composition, and all the other things you can say about the picture. Makes for a stronger photographer and a stronger model.

What was also interesting was how the sets were combined, you can pull up all sets, individual sets, and otherwise see the work that the model has done or the photographer has done. You get a real feel for the work, the ability of the photographer which is a must if you are a model, and the photographer gets an idea of how the model looks in various situations, which is a must for the photographer.
In all this could be a very powerful web site as people learn about it and adopt the system to post their pictures.
The best part, is that the photographer gets paid, meaning everyone has a chance to make a couple of coins to rub together on this project, and support amateur models, photographers, and the amateur community when it comes to pictures.
This site has some very good potential, and it will be fun to go back in six months to see what they have done.
