Torrent Spy shut down completely today, leaving users heading over to the pirate bay, private trackers, and a host of other public/private systems for bittorrent downloading. The notice on their web site looked like this today.
TorrentSpy was an important tracker, that and the shuttering of demonoid later on last year, and the host of other bittorrent trackers over the last few years, what is interesting is that the actual number of bittorrent users continues to grow, expand, and data is still available on the system. While the loss of a major system like TorrentSpy will slow down people, there are still tons of sites out there, and tons of things that can be downloaded.
