From the interesting department, Craigslistblog.org has been ordered to be shutdown by Craigslist CEO, Jim Buckmaster claiming the use of the URL is infringing.
Furthermore, the title “craigslist blog” is infringing, and needlessly confusing to members of the media and the general public, and must be changed. Source: Craigslistblog.org
We have all seen how these kinds of heavy handed tactics backfire and generally cause a lot of bad PR for a company.
The problem is that Craigslist has been one of the better success stories to come out of web 1.0, and generally before things like this cropped up had a lot of people who love the site, and generally used it. Most of the people on Craigslist will not care that this is happening, indeed many will not even know this kind of thing is happening.
That is what makes issues like this important, while there are well established rules about cyber squatting, having an up and running site, that has traffic, original content, and a host of other neat things going on at the time the domain is called in question, squatting becomes much more grey. Right or wrong, this will be yet one more interesting issue to watch.

Seriously… why would they have named their blog in such a way?
C’mon, they did it to leech traffic from the craigslist site, pure and simple – let’s not kid ourselves here.
Just for the record, I could care less either way…
