Recently cleared and released from “malware jail” I was wondering just how bad the “Google Ban for Malware” would hurt our scores for April, the news is not good. Looking at it by popular measure, Compete and Alexa, we are down a lot.
Alexa

Compete

Needless to say that our ad revenue (not much to begin with) has been cut in half, even though we got creative in trying to get people to visit the site, the realistic issue is the damage that was perpetrated on this web site.
We hold whomever did this responsible, rather than doing the socially acceptable thing and let us know that there was a breach, they cravenly just waltzed in and did bad things, not just to us, but to the hosting company and the other 2000 sites on this shared hosting provider.
The impacts of being on the “Google Pariah List” are many, and while we are significantly down on traffic, we are also down on other measures of popularity. What was a burgeoning blog two weeks ago is back to square one, we have to build the trust of our readers back, the PR nightmare begins.
