Hurray more anti p2p propaganda
When you set yourself up to be an organization that supposedly meant to teach the law, and you get the fundamentals wrong, it is time to put the organization for auction and everyone who works there to go home now. The NCSC has set itself up with the release of a comic book that seems to fly in the face of what is really happening with RIAA litigation against file sharers.
All the while, her grandmother is trying to save her house from the city that wants to pave it over. When the grandmother gets home from a day in court (she eventually beats the city and keeps her house) the criminal Megan is crying. “Oh, Nana. What have I done? I’ve ruined everything,” she said. “I’ll lose my scholarship. I know I will.” Source: Wired.com
Techdirt is even more scathing of the whole thing, and well worth reading.

It is getting to the point now where we all get the idea that file sharing if you are caught, will lead to a large amount of pain for the people being caught. But there are some sharp realities that need to be acknowledged here, and not that I am advocating that you download the latest hot Hannah Montana anything, but there are some realities here.
20,000 cases most settled out of court
Media Defender disgraced and had to come up with a new name
Government and industry pushing for tougher Intellectual Property Restrictions while Society is moving in the other direction.
Technological innovation hurt, starting with the VCR because the new business model was not apparent
ITunes is number one or number two for the distribution of music and media
The lawsuits have not stopped file sharing, if anything every time someone, a government a company or a group opens up their mouth or try to block something; a counter measure is in place within hours. Thinking Italy’s attempt to block the pirate bay or the war against DRM.
While the whole thing is interesting, you can reach the new propaganda by the NCSC via Wired, and it if not amusing today, will at least make you smile.
