I have been with Verizon for over 8 years now, and with the discounts, preferred treatment, and never had an outage, I would be foolish to let go of that “devil I know” in favor of any other wireless provider. So when it comes down to it, the only reason I don’t own an IPhone is because Verizon does not carry the service.

Now comes some optimistic news from Fortune/CNN that there is a possible deal with Verizon to carry the IPhone. If anyone from Verizon is reading this please note the following.

The only reason I don’t own an IPhone is because Verizon does not carry the IPhone. If you carry the IPhone, I will wait and go month to month on my contract with you to get one. I want an IPhone, and would like one as soon as you have them.

It was silly but made sense in some ways that Apple would want to lock into one provider, but for many of us who are actually happy with our cell phone providers, just having the IPhone at ATT was not enough to get us to swap over. By expanding the reach of the IPhone into other providers, Apple would gain many new converts who do not want an ATT contact.

Please let it be true, please, if there is anyone at Verizon who is listening, please do the deal and don’t let this be hopeful thinking on my part.
