Zane over at Amie Street music sent us a note last night that they redesigned their web site, and techcrunch as always hit the news first. The good part is that this builds out some hype for their new design, and it also shows just one way that the blogosphere works. Amie Street is one of the best music sites out there, and the new site redesign puts them in line with what other music sites are doing.

We are huge fans of the site, and thanks Zane for sending us the note. The screen cap below shows off the very cool new changes in the web site, and from all intents and purposes it is also easier to use. Sometimes site redesigns do not go over well, but for amiestreet this one was the right one to do. Sometimes you just have to do the right thing.

New features for the release include a new music library/player that looks very similar to iTunes. Users can access all music that they’ve purchased through Amie Street and stream it from this player free of charge, from any computer. Users can also browse through the music libraries of their peers, though they’ll only be able to listen to brief previews of songs they don’t own (the company hopes to eventually include full song previews, but it sounds like this is still a ways off). We agree with techcrunch but also want to note that they are supporting a lot of independent bands, and that is the more important part. While Mininova might be opening up a legitimate distribution channel, and MySpace might start doing music, the important part is that bands get as much exposure as they can get. Amie Street is part of that exposure, and very important to them. With the new upgrade, this should give new bands the additional exposure that they need.

Sites like this should be part of every bands marketing plan, and Amie Street is helping folks with easier navigation and easier search along with low prices so that people can support their independent local bands.
