Failed Presidential Technology Debate still yields an interesting discussion

Wired tried to do a technology debate between Obama and McCain’s camps, they didn’t need or want the candidates, they just wanted a spokesperson. While the Obama campaign sent along a person to the debate, but McCain’s camp bailed out at the last minute leaving everyone in the lurch.

Since the time and money had already been spent, Wired went ahead and did the debate anyways, giving Obama’s group some 40 minutes to just sit down and talk about the Obama view point on technology and where we are going, what we need to do next. While one sided, it at least shows that Obama’s campaign, or at least this speaker for Obama gets it. We need that in our next president, and if we get a National CTO, what is being discussed below becomes even more important.

The video is about 40 minutes long, so sit back with a cup of coffee or beverage of choice. In all it is an interesting viewpoint, and an interesting discussion. Too bad that McCain could not find anyone to send along, even though they promised that they would.
