Having an interesting conversation with Phil about the use of Anonymity and the inability to find out the personality behind a blog. In that light, and since I blog all over the place under my own name all the time, I honestly never thought of it, but I would like to introduce myself to you today. Welcome to Techwag (which is a total play on the now dead pooled Valleywag).
Hello, I run Techwag, and I am Dan Morrill. This site is all about my views on social media, education, technology, and some of the more interesting things that happen on the internet. I work at CityU of Seattle as the Program Director for the Computer Science, Information Systems and Information Security educational programs.
I love my job; I work with the coolest people every day.
I also get to meet some of the coolest people every day when I am on the internet, and participating in those same systems that I am teaching students to build, create, envision, and be entrepreneurial about. The usual disclaimers apply; this web site is purely my own thoughts on what I see, and what I read about social networking, people, personalities, and personas. My employer is not in any way shape or form responsible for the contents of this web site, they don’t approve, edit, or otherwise maintain any control over this web site at all.
My background is in organizational behavior (which really applies to Web 2.0, imagine the whole world as one big organization or organism) and how we all relate to each other. This has its upside in that the internet and social networks just from the observational viewpoint can tell us more about ourselves as people than anything we see on TV, hear on Radio, or see in Movies.
I am a big proponent of free speech, Creative Commons, the EFF, and a host of other organizations that are also big proponents of the same. We all do better when we share what we have.
I also write at IT Toolbox, Cloud Avenue, and am syndicated globally across more that 100 sites, I also guest blog at places like Torrent Freak and other good blogs that you should go read today. I have two google gangers, Dan Morrill of Google Android fame and a Professor at the University of North Carolina. People often get us confused, which leads to some interesting e-mail exchanges.

Hi Dan, thanks for sharing! I’ve found myself on your site a lot lately and never knew who I was reading other than the mysterious “admin”.
Hi Dan! In fact, I had gathered who you were after I looked at your “Boom and Bust” link where your book has your name on it.
That said, I really like that your About page is now updated and more personable.
And there’s never been any question about the quality of your blogging.. it’s top-notch. So keep it up and I’ll keep sharing. Thanks!
