Completely off interviews

The starting position for an arm wrestling match.Image via WikipediaI have done a number of interviews over the last year and a half, and at this point, there is just no point in doing any more interviews. I will work from the public record or from what is available in other sources, or my own opinion. While there is nothing wrong with an interview, what has ended up happening with interviews is that people want to spin even the negative into a positive light. Forget the negative review, the idea of control over the interview process, and what the product will look like or say has gotten to be a huge issue lately.

Over the last seven months, I have done about a dozen interviews and published only two of them. The reason for that is that the interviewee wants to have final editorial control over the entry, which is just not going to happen anymore. Not everything is great, not everything is light and bright, and no matter how you spin it, if it is a hunk of junk, and I call it that, then that is my opinion, and that is what I will write. If I do not get the issue, or my assumptions are wrong and you can show me where I am wrong, I am ok with fixing it. However, editorial control rests with me, if I still hate it after talking to you and seeing the product, I still hate it. No amount of arm wrestling will get me to change my mind.
