What made you switch to an Apple Mac

Image representing Apple as depicted in CrunchBaseImage via CrunchBaseAs people patiently await the release of Windows 7 that will maybe happen this afternoon for a public beta test you have to stop and think about why this is happening.

Apple has gained market share over the last two years, and this was done at the expense of Microsoft. I recently converted to Apple Mac, which I wrote about here on Toolbox. The reason for the conversion, and the change to Apple was frustration with my HP Laptop that I bought for Audio and Video. After sinking in 3200 dollars into a Vista HP computer, with inbuilt camera and inbuilt microphone I really expected them to work. I didn’t expect BSOD’s when I plugged in the head set, and I didn’t expect people to only see a green screen when I am video conferencing.

I bought an Apple Macbook, mostly because I was frustrated with the whole Vista experience, and HP for not delivering drivers (which they still have not done to this day, the camera still does not work, the computer still BSOD’s when I plug in the head set on my Vista HP Laptop.) I spent 1200 dollars on my Macbook, and it has been great, works, works out of the box, does things I need it to do. It also has incredible battery life, 5 hours, where in the real world I am lucky if the HP laptop lasts 3 hours. I know there are going to be specs out there that say you should get 8 hours of battery life, and that the camera on the HP laptop blah, it’s all your fault ect.

I have 20 years of experience with computing systems; this is not directly attributable to user error.

The fact is that the Apple Mac worked from the start, no weird anything, it just simply worked. That is what most people want, their computers to simply work.

I will be trying to download Windows 7 to replace Vista on my Laptop today or this afternoon in hopes that all the things I want to do on it will work. Have to see on this one as the system drivers for the audio and the video might not be present, but then that will not really mean anything different, they don’t work now as it is.

Curious as to why other people have changed over to Apple, for me it was frustration with an expensive not working as advertised HP Laptop, why did you change?

    For exactly the same reasons:
    - Vista is constantly failing on Wifi connection
    - Vista sleep doesn’t work..
    - Vista battery life is terrible..

    MacBook solves this all…

Whoa man you got a $3200 lappie and got suckered? Am sorry, you say you have 20 years of experience and all you say about your $3200 lappie is that it has inbuilt microphone and camera??!! Tell me if am missing something. Well, I have been using Vista in my $600 Dell laptop ever since it got released and at $1200 for the MacBook, I could have got another one. No switching to Mac for me, I am a PC and I love being one!

PS: Am not a stranger to the Mac world and I used to work on an imac
