How long does it take to build out a podcasting server using Loud Blog

About an hour, this does not include uploading the MP3 files, but when I noticed, two weeks late that Podango bit it and hit the dead pool in the standard belly flop of death, I had dozens of podcasts out there that are tied into many other systems. While it will take a while to set up all the back links and references to those other systems that I am embedded in, the cool part is that I got to use one of my fallow domains to setup Loud Blog in about 15 minutes.

If anyone needs/wants some extra podcasting space, I can set you up with an account, while it is not all you can eat; you can get your critical podcasts up and running if you need to.

Using loud blog though you can set up your own podcast server in about 15 minutes, I tried three different packages, and ended up using loud blog. You can check it out here on my streamaroo.com web site. This is a truly simple MySQL/PHP based server product that is truly easy to install. I will spend more time uploading MP3 files than I will spend setting up the system.

The good part is that you can FTP the files up to your server, and then import them in that way. One of the podcasting server software I tried did not have that feature (one I need), and the other one was good, but loud blog was better.

Lots of things to customize, lots of ways of making the system yours, with changeable templates, anti-spam, and a host of other cool things you can do to keep your site up and running. Feel free to check it out, I’ll be loading up all my CityU lectures first, and then the rest of it later. Embed means you have to cut and paste from the web page source, but since it is a simple DIV tag, it is easy to manage the raw HTML and just have some fun with it.
