Social media ads, ads on social media sites are going for as low as 20 cents per 1000 impressions (ECPM). Other networks are also showing the same level of affordability according to a report done by Pubmatic.

The best bargains are to be found on smaller sites where the average cost savings for advertising can be as much as 54% compared to last year’s costs. This can help companies extend their online advertising budgets and increase the reach across multiple smaller sites that might have been out of reach of some companies due to rapid inflation in pricing during 2006 and 2007. Medium sites and Larger sites have yet to come down as rapidly in pricing and might not be the best deal over the rapid price drops on smaller web sites.

The most expensive ads remain in the financial and business sector, even with the current depreciation in pricing, business and finance ads come in at 85 cents per ECPM, meaning if you purchase ads on social networks your money can go upwards of four times as far for a relatively similar connected audience. With over 300 advertising companies out there, and all of them working on raising the quality of their inventory and lowering prices, companies will find that their advertising budgets will go much further across more sites in 2009 than they did in 2008. This will give companies the ability to spread their messages much further across quality web site inventory than they could have afforded before.
