Visualizing the thoughts of you and your readers

A handy program called wordle can help you visualize the conversation you are having on your blog. Pulling up my blog at Toolbox, and if you take a look at the words and word density of what I talk about there you can get a very good idea of what the blog is about within the confines of the RSS feed link that I gave it. The toolbox RSS though is a partial feed, so it is not as contextually as dense as I would like it to be.

This is the partial feed information from what I write about.

The reason for pulling the toolbox feed was that they have a separate feed for comments, and you can see the keyword and idea summary from my readers over there. The comments feed is a full text feed, so it is denser and richer in context than the regular toolbox feed.

The comparison and contrast between what I write there and the conversations that we are having on line is where the difference in viewpoints can come through. This also allows for a quicker idea of what is important to my readers there versus what I am writing about. This allows me to start tailoring my entries to what my readers are commenting on, and then takes it one-step further, start getting more conversation happening on the web site.

Data visualization to make decisions is a great thing to have, a nifty program like wordle can be used for working out what business intelligence you can glean from your readers, and find out what they are more interested in, in terms of keywords.
