Chris Brogan has one of the funniest and shortest articles out called “You’re doing it wrong” which is a litany of things that we are doing wrong or right, depending on what people are wanting from your blog. We run in circular logic, where we can never win with some of our audience members.
So we might be doing it wrong, we might be doing it right, we might not even be doing something, and the sad fact is that we will never ever make everyone happy. Your blog is an extension of yourself and not everyone is going to love you. It does not matter what you use your blog for, as a resume, as a personal place to pontificate, as an extension of yourself and your life, as a way of just jotting down notes, people who stop by might not like what you have to say. They will offer advice on what you can do better, or not do, or advice on how to run your blog.
I have had people even offer advice on how I should run my startup, starting off with the words “your prices are too high, that is not what you should be charging for a comic book”. The market is a flaky thing, and I believe that you charge in a mid range, and sure the Overstreet guide is good, but many of the comic books I carry you can’t find anywhere else. If you can find it somewhere else, for a lower price, then go get it. Don’t argue with me that I am charging too much money stating you would buy it if it was only 99 cents (it was a super rare comic and sold for 20 dollars a few weeks later).
Advice is great, you want to get it, but the circular logic with “you are/are not using friend feed” just brought on a smile.
When you are blogging, or using any social system, it is an extension of you at some point in the value chain of social networking.
Some people like what you are doing and that is great, cultivate those contacts and people
Some people will not like what you are doing and that is great; don’t worry about them often they have their own agenda that might not work with yours
We might be doing it wrong, but if we are having fun with it, then there is nothing wrong with doing it wrong here and there. The idea is that if we just keep on doing what we are doing, eventually we will find our voices and our audiences. Some advice is good, some advice is bad, it all depends on where it came from and what you do with it.

You did this wrong. : )
You’re doing it wrong. : )
And I’ll keep on doing it wrong as long as it feels right
