Michael Fruchter goes one over the top and makes an excellent slide show on how to get started in social media. This is one of the more important documents you can scan through to help you understand and work within the confines of social media.
The best slides to pay attention to are Slide Number 7, because social media is not easy, as techwag approaches it third birthday in April, we have seen our own ups and downs, from trolls to hackers, to fame and glory. It has been like riding a rollercoaster and you are not too sure if the breaks will work until they grab and throw everyone in the car around.
Slide number 14 and 15 avoiding the clutter, and the surveys, and the flash blinky ads, and a ton of other things that have been tried on hundreds of thousands of blogs with people wondering why they are not making a six figure income right now. There is a lot of information here, and much you can read into it, really the idea is to pick some nice clean design and then keep yourself from mucking it up.
Slide 23 and 24 hits the nail on the head, it’s called social networking for a reason, you should pin these slides right next to your monitor.
Slide 31 is also very important, this is often where bloggers, social media folks, and just about everyone falls over. I know there are times where life takes over and I cannot blog as much as I would like to, but try to make an effort to be consistent, knowing full well that this is the hardest part of blogging, or being in social media.
Slide 35 – another pin to your wall slide, your readers who are who makes you who you are, it is not you, it is them. You should share that wealth whenever you can, if you want to guest blog on techwag, just drop me a note, send me the link to your blog, and what you want to write about, who knows, I might even post it.
In all, Mike really goes deep into the process here, and is well worth spending some time on this one. Now if I can just get him to do this as a full on presentation at the school, my day would be complete.
