If you are me, it would take about five seconds and a sense of humor with the credit card company, but a 10 inch tablet from Apple rumor has the blogosphere on fire, the question is, will I really get one this summer?

Last summer I bought my first Apple anything ever, ok so it was an Apple notebook and a free Ipod touch, but in the longer run the purchase was more of a protest against Microsoft than anything else. The apple does what I want it to do when I want it to do it, unlike my Vista laptop that seems to be possessed more often than not. Plus the Apple notebook works, worked out of the box, continues to work brilliantly, not like my Vista laptop.

While some things do pan out with Apple, frankly given what I know (which is not much other than what is in the news) the idea of an Apple tablet is well past its time. They could come up with one at any moment and many folks would be asking “What took you so long?” The only real disappointment will be is if the rumor is false, and the pundits are sent home without the possibility of a shiny new toy. Frankly, an Apple Tablet would be about the only way that I will spend money on a computer this year.

The reality is though that there will be again, long lines out the door, people camping over night, and a whole flurry of “unboxing” events live on the internet if this puppy is actually released. It will be like a two year olds party, full of noise, cake, and party hats. Let’s hope this one is true.

Coverage on this is at Computer World, JKOnTheRun, 9 to 5 Mac, and Edible Apple. They are all basically saying the same thing, that the tablet is coming this summer. That would be a great birthday present by the way. Wonder if it will come with Garage Band?
