As the exclusive contract with ATT and Apple looks like it is getting ready to reset, and ATT is asking for an extension through 2011, should ATT remain the sole carrier for the Iphone?
Personally, if Verizon started carrying the Iphone then my upgrade would be a slam dunk, not only would I get an Iphone, I would also remain a Verizon customer (that one is tentative right now after the naked blackberry debacle) mostly because I have been with them for ten years now and up until three weeks ago the service has been as smooth as silk. I really want Verizon to get the Iphone, and Apple would most likely see a boost in Iphone sales because some people just will not change their carriers for whatever reason.
The reason that I would like to see ATT loose the exclusive contract is the idea that I want to stick with my carrier. While I could purchase a Jail Broken Iphone, I really just want to get the whole package and not worry about what to do with it. Jail breaking is still as popular as ever, meaning that there are people who not only want to do more with their phones, but also work on other carriers.
Let’s hope on this one, that at least this consumer can prevail, the only thing keeping me from getting an Iphone is ATT, time to break the exclusive contract and give customers the choice.
