Super easy, and fast, if you are looking for music, fizy might be the next big place you want to stop off and take a look at. What is also noticeable is that they already have a huge sponsor for their playlist, Coke. Not bad for a company that does nothing more than allow you to build custom playlists and listen to music all day.
Since their initial write up in Read Write Web (Dec 08) they have expanded their service to include the saving of a play list so you can go back and just simply startup your songs whenever you are on line. The service searches for music (unknown where they get this stuff, but they say that they have billions of mp3’s indexed) and lets you play it. There is also an opportunity to watch music videos if one is available for the songs you want to hear. Fizy has its own twitter channel so you can follow them there as well, but they are not following anyone, no reciprocation like you would want out of the company to engage with the users of their service.
Overall it is a simple and interesting service to use, they have some of the more off beat and rare tracks I am always looking for like Pablo Perez, Balkinour, and Amon Tobin which is pretty phenomenal in the longer run that they even knew where to find these artists, let alone had fresh tracks that I had not heard from yet. They have gotten coverage by the majors, like Techcrunch, but as techcrunch says, the music industry might not like this site if they don’t have a license to play. That will be the next big step, how does it work, where do they get their stuff, and how long will it take the RIAA to shut them down if they don’t have a license.
In the mean time, you need to check them out; it is worth it to find some rare, offbeat, and downright nearly impossible things to find. That alone is what makes the service a true gem, not that it has all the popular mindless pop chart topping stuff, but that it has the harder to find beats from independent artists and little known but should be known better bands.
