Lunch 2 0 for Seattle

Posted by Dan on May 8, 2009 at 2:34 pm.

maherSeattle has its own Lunch 2.0 and a Happy Hour 2.0 to go along with it. The Lunch 2.0 program here in Seattle is run by Joshua Maher, who is using an idea that was originally launched in Silicon Valley. The idea behind the lunch is to meet and mingle, in a small group, over lunch. Lunch is usually one of the best times to meet with a small group, because there is a finite limit to how long lunch can really last until you have to go back to the office. Joshua posts his thoughts on running Lunch 2.0 on his blog right here.

The great thing is that the intention of these events includes mingling and participating in discussions (a little presentation, demo, or Q&A to get things going) and then discussion and a lot of time to Mingle. What do I mean by Mingle you might ask… well at a recent one of these events the Founder gave a demo and talked a little about the company (10min), followed by another 10-20min discussion/Q&A, then there was the hour of talking to the Developers, Marketers, Founders, and everyone else on the team that is actually required to make a startup function. So I guess it’s a little more then Mingling :) Source: Joshua Maher Blog

Lunch 2.0 is open to anyone who wants to attend, and is generally one of those fun things to do. You can go, you can sponsor a lunch, and otherwise just meet some interesting people who are doing cool stuff in the area.

Joshua also won in the Seattle 2.0 awards yesterday as the best social even for startups, so there is some traction there for the value of what he is doing. Well worth checking out, you can visit the Wiki site here, read Joshua’s blog here, and otherwise, find a way to participate and engage with the community. Could be a lot of fun depending on what you are looking for.
