I want lines are out today as the crunchpad makes it launch prototype debut, and me and many others want one as soon as we can get our hands on it. Still looking to solve some of the technology issues for students where I work, but if the crunchpad lives up to its hype, it might be something we can really use in an educational setting.
This launch prototype is another significant step forward from the last prototype. The screen is now flush with the case and we’ve decreased the overall thickness to about 18 mm. The case will be aluminum, which is more expensive than plastic but is sturdier and lets us shave a little more off the overall thickness of the device. Source: Techcrunch
While there will be a scramble for people to get their hands on the gear, most of us are going to have to wait until it gets to retail. It also all depends on where they are going to sell it, and how many they will make for final delivery. With many companies only building a few (think Iphone, think Blackberry storm) to test the initial market, the crunchpad is going to be very popular if it does what we have been told it is going to do. This is one of those things that is just going to be fun to test out and try.
Still not a lot of information, but from what the article says, and all the other things said about it, then yes, the crunchpad is going to have multiple uses across multiple environments, and could be the one reading device that I am seriously looking for not just for myself, but for many others who rely on my opinion about the technology to use where I work.
I really want to get one.
